Piel de Mar was founded in 1950 in the Alicante municipality of Gata de Gorgos, known for its craftsmanship of handbags and straw and leather baskets.

All leathers come from the Spanish food industry and undergo vegetable tanning. This not only drastically reduces environmental impact, but also makes the leathers last longer and soften over time. Leftover leather pieces take on various shapes to minimize production waste.
