Santacana Madrid

Santacana Madrid is a company with a rich history dating back to 1896, when the first glove factory was established in Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras district. Originally known as Guantes Zurro, the passion for craftsmanship has endured over the years. The history of Santacana gloves is woven with dedication and commitment. The manager of the Guantes Zurro factory, who married the owner’s daughter, continued the tradition under the name Guantes Mario Herrero. His reputation spread and he became the leading glove-maker of his era, when gloves were a symbol of sophistication in fashion. Although Mario Herrero passed away without issue in the 1960s, the glove-making tradition did not fade away. In 2001, the next generation of the family took up the mantle and changed the name to Santacana Complementos, keeping the spirit of artisanal craftsmanship alive. From then until now, Santacana has continued to produce leather gloves by hand, using traditional tools that bear witness to their commitment to craftsmanship. They work with domestic raw materials, adding a touch of distinction and quality to their products, defying standardisation in pursuit of uniqueness. At Santacana Complementos, they understand that throughout history, the glove has been a symbol of connection between the giver and the recipient. This spirit is reflected in their handcrafted creations, contemporary designs and the use of high-quality materials. All of this stems from a deep-seated passion and love for the glove-making trade.
